Some great new reviews came in! The first is of a recent show at Vitello’s. Here’s an excerpt:

“Up Close & Personal” was the title Cheryl gave her performance. And it was right on target: Kevin Axt on bass, Wayne Johnson on guitar, and Cheryl in the center. No drums, no piano, no horns. None of which were needed in two sets of exquisite songs performed with intimate lyrical and musical clarity. One couldn’t have asked for more.

Gig Update

Hey, Gang… My show on New Year’s Eve with the The Elliot Deutsch Big Band had to be postponed (but I’ve been told that New Year’s Eve will still be on December 31st). Speaking of the calendar… Heads-up for a gig on September 18, 2012 at The Rrazz Room in San Francisco.

I am temporarily off the road to deal with a surprise illness… please support Margaret Dorn, who is filling in with The Manhattan Transfer. She is doing the impossible, learning all our shows and doing a great job with my partners. Love to you all, and thank you for all the wishes of love and recovery… I shall return!!!

My Own Radio Show!

I’m hosting my own radio show!!! My new radio show debuts in June on a commercial free jazz station you can listen to online. Its called The Jazz Groove. Check it out at http://thejazzgroove.com.

They play laid-back, elegant jazz from artists like Miles Davis, Shirley Horn, Wes Montgomery, Wynton Marsalis, yours truly, and hundreds of other artists. My show will air on Sunday nights from 7pm to 10pm PST. I’ll let you know the exact Sunday in June soon!
